  What do our students need to prepare for learning World History ?

  学生们需要为学习《世界历史》做些什么准备呢?

  To learn World History, students need to have good levels of English, which will help them understand the teacher, take good notes, write research papers, and take good exams. They need to be disciplined, and study hard for quizzes and tests.

  这门课程需要学生有一个较好的英语水平,因为这能让他们更好地理解老师的授课内容,更好地做笔记、写研究报告以及完成考试。当然,他们还需要做到自律自觉,认真对待大小测验等。

  What are the main contents/objectives of this subject?

  这门课程的主要内容或目标是什么呢?

  The main content of this subject is the study of the history of the entire world,from the prehistoric times to today. The objectives of the subject are learning world history, as well as the preparation for the TOEFL exam.

  课程的主要内容是学习从史前到现在的世界历史,同时也是对托福考试的一个准备。

  What teaching methods do you use to teach this subject?

  您一般会怎么上这门课呢?

  My teaching methods involve lectures, which are accompanied by the PowerPoint presentations. Students will take notes and use them for chapter quizzes, which I give at the end of each topic, and the midterm and final exams. This will help them retain the knowledge of what they learned throughout the academic year.

  我讲课的时候会用到PPT,而且除了期中期末考试之外,每一章结束之后我也会安排一次小测,学生们可以利用平时做的笔记复习,这也有利于他们及时回顾学过的知识。

  In addition, my job is to prepare the students for the TOEFL exam. This exam consists of four parts: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. I help students improve their reading skills by learning new vocabulary, reading chapters from our textbook and answering questionson these chapters (which helps the students improve their reading comprehension). I help students improve their writing skills by writing down the class notes, writing vocabulary sentences and stories and answering essay questions. As for speaking skills, I will ask them to read out loud, which allows me to focus on their pronunciation. Finally, I enhance their listening skills by lecturing in class and interacting with the students, which gives them an opportunity to listen to my speaking and understand it better.

  此外,辅导学生准备托福考试也是我的工作内容。托福包含听、说、读、写四个部分,在课堂上我会注意锻炼学生这四个方面的能力。就阅读而言,我会让学生学习新词汇、带领学生阅读文章并回答课后习题(这能提高他们的阅读理解能力)。就写作而言,我会从课堂笔记的撰写、单词的造句及故事创作、回答课后习题这几个方面去锻炼他们遣词造句的能力。至于口语呢,我主要通过让学生大声朗读去检查和纠正发音问题。较后,我认为英文授课以及与学生之间的互动也能很好地提升他们的听力技巧。

  What kinds of homework do our students have for this subject?

  学生们一般有什么作业呢?

  It involves writing a story based on the vocabulary words they learned. The purpose of this homework is to help students improve their knowledge of English vocabulary and their writing skills. Besides, writing vocabulary sentences and answering the questions for the chapters are also included. There will also be high school and college level research papers on the selected topics.

  作业包括用学过的词汇写故事,这是为了巩固学生的词汇和写作技巧。此外还包括写句子、回答课后习题和撰写高中及大学水平的选题研究报告。

  The learning suggestions for this course are as follows. Students need to behave in class, pay close attention to the teacher, participate in the class activities (especially take good notes), do all homework well, and study hard for quizzes and exams.

  主要有以下几点建议:同学们需要有较好的课堂表现,认真听讲,积极参与课堂活动(尤其是要认真做笔记),课后自觉完成作业并踏实准备小测及考试。

  What evaluation methods are applied to assess the performance of our students ?

  您会采取什么方式去评估学生的表现呢?

  I assess my students by giving them vocabulary and chapter quizzes, as well as the midterm and final exams. I also assess their reading comprehension by having them answer questions on the stories from the United States History. Finally, I assess my students’ ability to use the new vocabulary terms by writing stories with these terms.

  我会通过单词小测、章节测验以及期中期末考的方式去考核同学们的表现。此外,我也会通过回答课后习题的方式考核同学们的阅读理解,对词汇的运用能力则通过用生词写故事的方式去检测。
