SSIS ADMISSIONS POLICY AND PROCEDURES
Shanghai Singapore International School is licensed to provide education for (1) children of foreign citizens, (2) children of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan citizens and (3) children of Chinese citizens working and residing in Shanghai.
1. For children of foreign citizens, at least one of the applicant’s parent must fulfill all of the requirements listed below:
(a) Holds a foreign passport;
(b) Works in Shanghai and holds a valid Shanghai-issued Alien Employment Permit and
(c) Resides in Shanghai and holds a valid Shanghai-issued Residence Permit For Foreigner and a Shanghai Temporary Residence Permit.
2. Children of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan citizens:
(a) The applicant and both parents must hold the Permanent Hong Kong Identity Card/Macau SAR Permanent Identity Card/Taiwan Compatriot Permit, where applicable, in order to attend SSIS.
3. Children of Chinese Mainland citizens:
(a) Applicants who meet the following conditions may contact the Admissions Office of Shanghai Singapore International School directly for admissions:
• Both parents hold the Chinese Mainland passports;
• At least one parent works and resides in Shanghai and
• The child was born overseas with a lawful foreign birth certificate.
(b) Advance official approval from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC) is required if:
• The entire family holds the Chinese Mainland passports and has obtain permanent resident status in a foreign country;
• At least one parent works and resides in Shanghai and
• The child studied in an overseas education institution in the last two consecutive years.
