　　Good morning. Teachers and students, a very warm welcome to all of you. Let me introduce myself to you first, I am your SLS Principal Ms. Lynn Wong, it brings me great pleasure to be here today to join the opening ceremony with you for the academic year 2021-2022.

　　亲爱的老师们，学生们：早上好!热烈欢迎大家返校开启新学年的第一天。我是三亚外国语学校的校长-汪琳女士，我感到非常荣幸，今天能够在这里和大家一起参加2021-2022新学年的开学典礼!

　　This morning, students greeted me with smiles and waving their hands. With these warm greetings, I feel that this is a warm and friendly school! From today on, there will be many chances we shall bump into each other around campus. Please feel free to share with me whatever you are thinking or feeling about your studies, your school and so on.

　　今天早上，很多学生向我微笑、挥手致意，从他们温暖和友好的问候中，我感受到这是一所温暖和美好的学校，从今天开始，将会有很多机会，我们在校园中碰见彼此，我会非常乐意聆听你们对学校和对学习的想法和感受。

　　Like my teachers who inspired me when I was young, I hope all my students to become not only knowledgeable but also dedicated, compassionate, wise, imaginative, balanced, and reflective life-long learners.

　　正如我的老师曾经鼓励我一样，我也希望我的学生们成为：知识渊博、专心致志、懂得关爱、富有智慧、拥有创新、全面发展、懂得反思的终生学习者。

　　When you become a young person with a career, what people would notice is not your exam grades but the kind of person you are. I am not telling you that your studies are not important. Rather, I want you to see your academic performance as part of a bigger picture, but not the whole of your whole person development.

　　当你们长大走上工作岗位的时候，人们注意你的并不是你的考试分数，而是你是什么样的人。在这里，我并不是想说你们的学习不重要，而是希望你们将学术成绩看作是你们全人发展的其中一部分。

　　While you were enjoying your summer holiday, many teachers and staff were busy preparing for the new school year. As you could see, thanks to the incredible effort of our teachers, the school and classrooms have all been renovated and decorated. I hope you would appreciate their hard work in bringing the school into a more beautiful place.

　　同学们，当你们还在享受暑假假期的时候，我们的老师和全体工作人员已经在忙碌于准备开学的各项工作，你们可以看到，在我们老师的努力付出后，我们的校园和教室都已翻新和精心装饰。我希望你们能够感恩和感谢老师们的辛勤付出，让我们的学校变得更加美好!

　　Teachers are sometimes referred as ‘gardeners’ as it is their job to help you develop and grow into the best that nature has installed in you. I hope that you could cooperate well with your teachers and let them help you to shine and grow during your years in school.

　　老师通常被称作“园丁”，因为他们的工作就是帮助你们成长为的自己，我希望你们能很好地与老师们合作，让他们更好地帮助你们成长和发出自己的光芒!

　　Finally, I would like to share with you a quote from Madonna, she said, “No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always become a better version of yourself.”

　　较后，我想跟大家分享一句来自麦当娜的引语“无论你是谁，无论你做过什么，无论你从哪来，你都可以成为更好的自己.”

　　It takes hard work and dedication to become the best versions of ourselves, let’s do the best of ourselves.

　　我们需要付出勤奋和努力，才能变成的自己!让我们一起行动，做的自己!

　　Welcome back, my dear students, Let’s make it a good start! Make it a fruitful year ahead!

　　Good morning students and teachers,

　　同学们、老师们上午好，

　　It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone back to our school. I’m Principal Nigel from the UK and I hope that you had a very enjoyable and relaxing summer holiday, and that you were able to connect with your family and friends in a meaningful way.

　　非常高兴，欢迎大家返校。我是来自英国的奈杰尔校长，愿您和您的家人、朋友们度过了一个有意义，轻松愉快的暑假。

　　It is great to see so many smiling and happy faces on the first day of our new semester.Your teachers have been planning and preparing their lessons and classrooms for the new academic year, and they are excited to be working closely with you to ensure your success and well-being.

　　在新学期的第一天，很开心看到这么多张开心灿烂的笑脸。老师们已为新学年布置好了教室，准备就绪了教学计划，他们很高兴能与同学们同心协力，让你们走向成功获得幸福。

　　So, let us start our new year at school with hopes and dreams that each one of us will do our best to achieve success, and keep working hard, because hard work pays off.

　　学期伊始，让我们怀揣梦想和希望，望我们每个人都能全力以赴，再接再厉，获得成功，努力就会有所回报。

　　There is always something magical about success, and patience and perseverance are two secrets to success. To all our primary students, SLS and TIS is such a special place to learn and grow and we have high expectations for each and every student.

　　成功总是有魔幻的一面，但恒心和毅力是成功的两大秘诀。对我们全体小学生来讲，三亚外国语学校和海南三亚外籍人员子女学校是一个学习和成长的特定场所，我们对每个学生都有很高的期望。

　　We expect you to be kind and compassionate, to respect your parents, obey your teachers and believe in yourself. So, as you enter your classes today, our goal is to encourage you to foster a lifetime love for learning.

　　希望你们心怀友善、富有同情心，尊重父母，听从老师，相信自己。所以，当你们今天进入课堂时，我们的目标是鼓励、培养你们对学习的终生热爱。

　　To those of you who are in Lower Secondary or High School, we are extremely proud of our public examination results and congratulate all of them on their achievements.

　　对于我们的初、高中学生，我们为统考取得的成绩感到非常自豪，并祝贺这些同学们取得了优异成绩。

　　I would like to mention two students in particular, Catherine, who achieved 6 A* and Christina, who achieved 2 A*, and 2 A’s.

　　我想特别提到两位学生，王佳怡同学，取得了6门功课A*的好成绩以及宋洋同学，获得了2 个A*和2个 A优异成绩。

　　I want you to feel positive and energized when you are in school; this way you are more likely to be successful students, aware of your social responsibilities and be able to contribute positively to society.

　　我希望同学们在学校积极奋进、充满活力;这样更有可能成为优等学，意识到自己的社会责任，并能为社会做出积极贡献。

　　In conclusion, make sure that you take the opportunity of a lifetime within the lifetime of the opportunity – make the most of them as they will undoubtedly shape and mould your future.

　　较后，你必须在机会的一生中抓住了一生中的机会——充分利用这些机会，因为它们将毫无疑问地塑造你的未来。

　　But most importantly, it means that you will have the world at your fingertips – we as teachers will help you reach out and grab it.

　　较重要的是，这也意味着你将拥有触手可及的世界——老师将助你一臂之力。

　　Welcome back everyone once again, and I wish each and everyone of you another successful year. Thank you.
